About PJ Blanchfield
Attorney PJ Blanchfield possesses more than two decades of
experience in the criminal justice system. He began his career as an
assistant district attorney in Albany County, New York. Working in the
narcotics unit, Mr. Blanchfield prosecuted felony drug cases; in the
career criminal unit, he handled violent offenses, such as murder,
robbery, and burglary. In addition, he served as the county’s special
gun prosecutor and worked in close cooperation with the U.S. Attorney’s
Office for the Northern District of New York to develop effective
strategies to combat gun violence. As a prosecutor, PJ Blanchfield
worked on several high-profile cases that received media coverage.
After 12 years at the district attorney’s office, PJ Blanchfield accepted a position at Albany County’s Office of the Public Defender, where he represented clients who were economically disadvantaged. Currently, he maintains a private practice handling general litigation and occasionally serves as assigned counsel, providing criminal defense services for impoverished clients.
PJ Blanchfield earned a BA in history from Hamilton College and a JD from the New England School of Law. While in law school, he also worked for the attorney general’s office in Boston, Massachusetts. He has held membership in the New York Bar Association and the Albany County Bar Association.
In his free time, Mr. Blanchfield enjoys in-ground and patio gardening as well as traveling, especially to Ireland and the Caribbean. He is also an avid golfer and has played for more than 30 years.
