The Moon's Role

The Moon's takes part in many things that happen to Earth. One things the Moon takes part in is eclipses. Also, the moon causes the tides on Earth. Finally, the Moon causes the Moon phases. Without the Moon none of these could be possible. So, the Moon takes a big part for Earth.

Moon Phases

One of the things the Moon causes are Moon phases. There are 8 Moon phases a month. These Moon phases are New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Third Quarter, and Waning Crescent. The moon appears to go through phases because it is always changing position relative to the sun. At different times during the lunar cycle, the portion of the moon that is illuminated. Moon Phases affect Earth because it changes our view of the Moon. This is one of the things the Moon causes.

Another thing the Moon causes are tides. Tides are the rise and fall of sea level caused by the combined caused by the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and Sun and the rotation of Earth. There are four types of tides, a spring high and low tide and a neap high and low tides. There are two high and low tides a day. Tides affect Earth because they happen everywhere but some places experience a tide but they maybe small. Tides affect all of Earths marine life and people with boats. This is another thing the the Moon causes.

Finally another thing the Moon causes are eclipses. An Eclipse is when an object in space comes between the sun and a third object. There are two types of eclipses they are solar and lunar. Solar Eclipse effect Earth because people do not allow anyone to look at the sun. Lunar Eclipse effect Earth because it cause the view of the moon to be red. Total eclipses can only be seen in its path of totality. This is another thing that the moon causes.

With out the MOon

Without the moon we would not have moon phases, eclipses, and tides. Without the moon, humans wouldn't exist. Life, if it had started at all, would be in the earliest stages of evolution. Days would last four hours, winds would blow at hurricane force and there would be a dense and toxic atmosphere resembling that of Venus. The Moon plays a big part for Earth. Without the Moon we would have no eclipses, tides, and moon phases. Without the Moon Earth would now be like it is now.
