Protect Yourself from Identity Theft
Well, what is identity theft? It's when someone takes your personal information without your permission, and in most cases, without your knowledge. What they can take from you includes: name, address, credit card number, Social Security number, medical insurance account numbers. When someone steals your information and identity, your credit can go down. They won't pay for what they buy, therefore it looks as if you aren't paying.
So how can I take action for protecting myself? Keep all of your information in a safe place. Shred documents with important information after you're through with it. Get your mail as quickly as possible. Try to avoid using your Social Security number if you can- try to use some other form of information. Make your passwords hard to guess and unrelated to your name or birthday. Don't give out personal information online to random emails. Don't put personal information on public computers.
