Description of Drug:Heroin is a Depressant drug that 4.2 million Americans aged 12 or older (or 1.6 percent) have done. Heroin is injected and used to get high. Heroin can be synthesized from morphine and legal, but it s an illegal drug.It is estimated that about 23 percent of individuals who use heroin become dependent on it.Heroin overdoses frequently involve a suppression of breathing. This can affect the amount of oxygen that reaches the brain, a condition called hypoxia.
Social View and intervention- Heroin is viewed as a bad drug used by the cool kids to get high. Several of the interventions talk with people's families to try to figure out why the wanted to do the drug and stop them from feeling the need to do it again.
