The Gupta Empire
The Gupta Empire was a continuation of the Maurya civilizastion. The empire itself was begun by Chandra Gupta.. It's reign lead to the golden age of India, and great advances in elements of civilizaion were made. Particularly, the Gupta Empire's mathemeticians developed arabic numbers, decimals, and the concept of zero.
The empire emerged from the dark ages of India in 300 B,C, under the reign of Chandra Gupta, completely un-related to Chandragupta of the Maurya Civilization. The empire lasted until 600 B.C. when barbarians invaded and captured the empire's capitol city. Although they didn't conquer all of India, the territories that hadn't been conquered declared independence and India returned to being divided between small kingdoms.
