# Group Motion Assignment

### by Claire B and Julianna M

Newton's First Law:  An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force

This affected the motion of the car, in that, the opposing force (friction) made the car's speed change.

Newton's Second Law:  When a force acts on an object, it will cause the object to accelerate (the larger the mass of the object, the greater the force will need to be to cause it to accelerate).

When the car was first pushed by us, the force caused the car to move forward and accelerate quickly.

Newton's Third Law:  For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction

At the beginning, the car's speed was at 0 cm/s, but then sped up. AFter that, the car slowed down and came back to 0 cm/s.

# Forces

The forces involved with the motion of our car were applied force and friction.

The applied force was the push the car got and the friction was from the table below it (and also some air resistance).

The forces were unbalance because the car sped up (the applied was greater than the friction) then slowed down (the friction was greater than the applied).

The Story of Philip

Philip was just leisurely driving down the road. He was trying to go to the middle of the desert where he had to drop off the...package. But that's when the cops caught up. I guess this wasn't a leisurely drive at all. Sorry for lying.

Anyways, to get to the desert, you have to pass through the land of giants. They looked just like people, except they were all perpetually middle schoolers in science class. The cops were on his heels. So he decided to call to one of the giants for help. One picked him up and placed him on the table. Then, one gave him a huge shove that sent him speeding away and into the desert.

Once he was suitably lost, he parked the car and got out. Philip went to the trunk and took out both his shovel and his...package. He carefully placed the...package on the ground and dug the shovel into the earth. Once a large hole was dug, he unwrapped the...package, making sure not to break anything or make any tears.

Okay I guess I'll tell you what it is now. But I must do it dramatically.

Soft brown fur, button eyes, a red velvet bowtie, and the smell of scented pine cones. These were its defining features. The defining features of the teddy bear of despair.

Philip placed the bear into a box and lowered it in the hole. Wiping sweat from his forehead, philip threw the dirt and sand back into the ground. He finished and brought the shovel back to the car. He got back into the driver's seat and buckled himself in. That's when he heard the cops' siren.
