Congo has a lot of specific dining rules. Some of the rules are to wash your hands before/after eating, to only eat with your right hand, men eat first, then women, then children, and to allow senior members to enter the room before you. I found a couple of these rules very surprising. They even have a order of who eats and when! And you cannot use your left hand! These rules differ from the U.S. because we are aloud to use our left hands to eat and eat whenever we feel like it. It is important to know the rules of a place before you go there because if you do different things in a place with different rules, then you are going to be the one to stand out and you are going to be the one that looks strange. Also, maybe our usual rules are offensive to the people that have different rules.
