Salmon & Sausage Gumbo

Easy to make gumbo with salmon jerky

1. Put two tablespoons butter in sauce pan and cook over medium heat. Add onion, pepper, celery, and garlic. Stir until golden brown. Remove from pan.

2. Put vegetable oil in pan with flour. Cook over low heat and stir until oil and flour turn brownish color.

3. Set heat to medium and add sausage, salmon jerky, and onion, pepper, celery, and garlic. Bring to a boil. Stir in chicken broth and simmer over low heat for one hour.

4. In a separate pot, cook 2 cups of rice in 2 cups of water. Follow directions on rice package to fully cook rice.

5. Add rice to the sausage, salmon jerky, onions, peppers, celery, and garlic along with salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Cook for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and serve.

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 3 teaspoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups rice
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 pound sausage, cooked and sliced
  • 1 bag J. Hook's Salmon Jerky, diced
  • 3 teaspoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Hot sauce, salt and pepper to taste.
