The Heian Period

In 794 Japan's emperor moved the capital to Heian, now called Kyoto.  Many of the Japan's nobles moved to Heian, where they developed an elegant and stylish court society. Culture flourished because of this system and developed how to speak a written language. A great introduction into the late Heian Period. Another great learning article talking about the Heian Period and a little about the Nara Period and how they relate.
