A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...

"Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it" (3). - Ralph Waldo Emerson
This quote connects to George Lucas because he values ambition and hard work. He believes that if a person were to stick with what they wanted to do and keep working at it, they would suceed. He sure did.
I think we can all agree that George Lucas is a very successful individual. This success wasn't easy. Through hard work, dedication, and a determined non-conformist attitude, he created two major film sagas. Lucas had to go through countless years of school and hard work in thr filming buisness to get the sucess he did from Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Over the years, not everyone thought that Lucas was going to get this sucess. Star Wars and Indiana Jones were either "too weird" or "not interesting enough". Lucas didnt care what other people thought! Lucas values ambition and hard work above all else, so he wasn't going to let other peoople get in the way. Look at the two sagas now! This is why Lucas shows transcendentalist qualities. He showed free thought in the creation of the films. He showed non-conformity in making the films and going into filmmaking even though other people told him he couldn't suceed in doing so. He even showed confidence in going against the critics of his films and following his dream to become a filmmaker. He is a true transcendentalist.
I believe that society can take a lot more than just Star Wars from George Lucas. He has many traits that would improve society if all of it's members had them. Lucas is very hard working, and that is the foundation for any success. He is also full of ambition and self-confidence. If a person were to put these three traits together, they would more than likely find success at some point. The one thing that really stands out with George Lucas though, is his will to follow his dreams. If society could take one thing from Lucas to make itself better, that is what it should take.
"A lot of people like to do certain things, but they're not that good at it. Keep going through the things that you like to do, until you find something that you actually seem to be extremely good at. It can be anything" (1). - George Lucas
This quote explains that if one is self-reliant, confident and sticks with what he likes to do, he will eventually find sucess. Lucas gnored critics, worked hard, and followed his dreams of becoming a filmmaker and eventually found sucess in what he loved to do.
