-plate tectonics is a theory explaining the structure of the earth's crust and many associated phenomena as resulting from the interaction of rigid lithospheric plates that move slowly over the underlying mantle.
-The model builds on the concepts of continental drift, developed during the first few decades of the 20th century. The geoscientific community accepted the theory after the concepts of seafloor spreading were developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
- some things that plate tectonics created were mountains, islands, they formed volcanoes and it made earthquakes
-type of plate movements are convergent, divergent, and lateral slipping movement
