Mercury 7

Alan Shepard was the first human to fly into space. They sent a professionally trained chimpanzee to outer space and the rocket didn't blow up, but it didn't make it to space. The mission only took about 20 minutes.  If I was Alan Shepard I would be really scared and frightened to be the first human into space. Every other rocket blew up and his was the the second rocket to not blow up. Alan Shepard was the first person to fly into space for the U.S. The Soviet Union, in 1961. A cosmonaut named Yuri Gagarin completed a suborbital flight.
