Mother To Son
By Langston Hughes
The poem Mother to Son is about the mother talking to her son saying don't ever back down and never give up because the mother was going threw tough times. The characters in the poem is the mother and the son. The conflict in the poem is the mother is going threw tough times and she was explaining to her son to never give up. The resolution in the poem is when the mother gives her point to her son to never give up no matter what. A good theme for the text would be what ever life throws at you never give up even if its bad as stepping on glass on your bare feet. The main claim in the poem is when the mother is telling her life story while teaching her son to never give up. The figure of speech in this poem is when the mother is saying to the son "Life for me aint been no crystal stair". This means it is not easy or it symbolizes life without a struggle.
