Malala Yousafzai

"I speak not for myself but for those without voice... those who have fought for their rights... their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, their right to be educated." This quote, spoken by Malala Yousafvzai, is a basc statement of everything she has soent her whole life working towards. Malala Yousafvzai, born July 12, 1997 in Mingora, Pakistan. From an early age she had a passion and was an activist for women's rights. This passion and action caused the Taliban to issue an official death threat against her, and eventually they took force and she was shot on October 9, 2012. She survived and is continuing to heal from the physical and emotional trauma caused by the event. Even after this devastating event that greatly shaped her life, she continued to work towards and speak out about the importance of education. Two years after the attack, at age seventeen, she was nominated for and won the Nobel Prize, making her the youngest reciepient of the award ever.
