China

Overview: China was an empire that always ran under their own rules to make sure that their economy kept stable and made sure that they had they had balanced trade between other places, however in the 1700s and 1800s they did undergo times when other nations would figure out ways to get China's trade to go in their favor and would force China to trade with them, and it all led to rebellion and efforts of reform.

  • Before the 1800s, nations began using power to get East Asian trade to favor them.
  • In the 1700s, merchants from Britain made lots of money from trading opium from India for Chinese tea.
