I think people can approach observational drawing by observing the things around them. From one tiny object to a giant skyscraper.

Observational drawing is like making yourself one with the thing you are drawing. I feel it requires us to use many more observational skills than just seeing. A lot of times we can also feel, taste, and smell what we are drawing.

In order to draw from observations I study details and then I draw and shade as needed.
