Abolition of Slavery
Abolition is the movement to end slavery although the US was not the first to embrace this idea, later it was picked up by many citizens and began to gain considerable traction up north. With the help people like William Lloyd Garrison who wrote the Liberator, one of the first sources of abolitionism I. The US. He took onto himself the task of speaking out against slavery using his newspaper. This gained traction in his home town of New York City where many abolitionist groups became based. Because of these groups protesting slavery laws were made to outlaw it which angered the south to the point where they wanted to secede. This was the start of the civil war and because northers wanted blacks to be free they were aloud to enlist in the northern army which is one of many reason why the north had an advantage over the south in the war.
