Unit 1 Project "Full Stop Ahead"

ACTIVITY 1

Activity 1 Speed Table
Activity One Speed (Function) Graph

Activity 2

Activity 2 Traveling Speed

Answer the questions:

a.) Why do you think the estimates of speed do not double when the skid makers double in length?

-The reaction time of a person and the road conditions is going to determined how long the skid makers are. When the road is dry the skid marks are going to be shorter because when it rains the roads are wetter and its very slippery.

b.) Based on the results, what conclusion can you make about safe distances between cars?

- Since the lengths of the marks and the dry/wet roads are squared there isnt a perfect half. So if the road is wet and the speed of the car then the skid marks should longer.
