Whiplash (2014) - Review
Because Indonesia is too far away from Hollywood, this movie just came out on theater last week. I didn't expected anything from this movie, I have watched the trailer but it didn't attracted me at first. Then my friends invited me to the theater at 9 p.m. By the way, this is my first time watching at Paragon XXI.
So let's talk about the movie. The new kid Andrew (Miles Teller) is an ambitious young man who met a super strict and killer, Mr. Fletcher (J.K. Simmons). I believe you will die at the moment if you didn't have good mental when you have teacher like him. Andrew was practiced really hard to get main position in Fletcher's band. His hand was bloody hard. The scenes where he played the drum with full of anger is a very pity moment for me. I won't tell the whole story, instead i was disappointed the girl he dated earlier, Nicole (Melissa Benoist) just appeared for a few minutes. She is so pretty! Andrew treated her like a shit and i'm happy that she found new boyfriend after Andrew left her.
Well, this movie gave me a sight that you are doing nothing if there's no change or progress. Miles Teller made me curios is he really can play drum? Because technically Andrew's play is fucking amazing. For the least, one thing that less in Indonesian movies, the dialogue is pretty smart.
"You thing i'm fucking stupid? I know it was you."
