Manichaeism was founded by the Persian Mani in the third century. This is a religion that is "purported to be the true synthesis of all the religious systems." It even consists of Babylonian folklore, Buddhist ethics, and Zoroastrain Dualism. Manichaeism falls under the category of religious Dualism. Good and evil are the central topics in this religion. This religion believes that one should be abstinent from any sort of pleasure of sexual desire, even when a couple is married. This means they were not supposed to do what God created each other for. Pregnancy was a sin. The Church's response was that this was a danger and threatened the act of generation. Man and women are meant for each other and are supposed to recreate.
