International Arts Festival

Critical Animals collaborated with This is Not Art in 2002 to satisfy the innovative examination part of the celebration. Discriminating Animals cultivates the advancement of basic thought and appearance in masterful practice and exploration, while giving a situation in which thoughts and connections can grow in discussion. The Critical Animals Creative Research Symposium is an annual conference that takes place over the first weekend in October in Newcastle, New South Wales. It one of Australia’s leading contemporary and emerging arts festivals, celebrating creativity and innovation. We are looking for highly motivated and creative students. We will primarily be interested in your portfolio and will select via a personal interview.

If your predicted grades fall below these requirements but you can demonstrate a high-quality portfolio, you are still encouraged to apply. We will consider you on an individual basis. Our students are taught to consider the context of their work and how it engages its audience. You will develop a distinct body of work that is critically informed by contemporary art practice and ideas, which you should be able to articulate theoretically.

The course is delivered through lectures, seminars, group craft, individual tutorials, technical inductions, demonstrations and e-learning. Opportunities to work beyond the studio are encouraged and our second-year placements are an invaluable source of experience and useful contacts.

Critical Animals is one of the world's leading laboratories for the investigation of dance and movement-based forms. Valuing the individual artist, their creative process and their vital role within society, Movement Research is dedicated to the creation and implementation of free and low-cost programs that nurture and instigate discourse and experimentation. Movement Research strives to reflect the cultural, political and economic diversity of its moving community, including artists and audiences alike.

We exhibit many first works by emerging artists, providing visibility and context within an international festival. Images have a longstanding reputation as an advocate for artists of color and Aboriginal artists, reflected in twenty years of programming. By developing strong partnerships with other programming organizations and by maintaining relationships with art service groups.

Over this time Critical Animals has developed to check many craftsmen, analysts and inventive as a feature of our graduated class, pulling in gatherings of people of more than 5,500 from crosswise over Australia. Critical Animals joined forces with this is Not Art route in 2002 to satisfy the innovative exploration part of the celebration.

For some academics this is the start of their gathering background and Critical Animals gives a steady situation to those going out on the examination symposium circuit.
