In the 1830's, Americas education was revolutionized and resulted in free education for the younger people. These changes occurred due to Recent happenings such as Jacksonian democracy and the general mass of reform movements occurring in this time period. These reforms were made possible through the work an dedication of many people such as Horace Mann who pushed for public schools in Massachusetts. His work was emulated by many and soon, other states starting adopting his practices. Education was given such importance because people realized that it ensured the future of the country was in more secure hands, as educated people are thought to make better decisions
