Rabbi Steven B. Jacobs
Assistant Rabbi at Temple Israel of Greater Miami
About Rabbi Steven B. Jacobs
Rabbi Steven B. Jacobs founded the Progressive Faith Foundation, a
group committed to improving relations among those of Christian,
Islamic, and Jewish faiths. The foundation engages the public and
private spheres by encouraging organizations as well as individuals to
become more tolerant of interfaith interactions. In guiding the
foundation, Rabbi Steven B. Jacobs encourages such projects as research
into Muslim and Jewish women and their impact on the community.
Besides his contributions to the Progressive Faith Foundation, Rabbi Jacobs holds membership with the Los Angeles Sheriff Department's Homeland Security Congress and sits on the board of directors for Faith in Public Life, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. Following the uncertainty caused by the 2000 presidential election, he acted as the leading voice for a renewed political coalition between African-American and Jewish people.
In preparation for his career, he earned a bachelor of arts in sociology from New York University. After that, he enrolled at Hebrew Union College, where he received a second bachelor of arts and a master of Hebrew letters.
