Rainer Gruessner : Esteemed Member of the Medical Community
Rainer Gruessner is an esteemed member of the medical community, spearheading innovative developments in the field of transplantation. Dr. Gruessner returned to Germany in 1989, where he completed his Professorial Thesis at The Philipp University of Marburg. Following this achievement, he returned to the University of Minnesota, where he would go on to receive tenure and be named the Vice-Chief of the Division of Transplantation in the Department of Surgery. During his tenure at the University of Minnesota, he also traveled to Kyoto, Japan, for additional clinical training in living donor liver transplantation In 1998, he was appointed Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He returned to the University of Minnesota just 1 year later to take the position of Vice-Chair of its prestigious Department of Surgery.
