About Ralph Delius
Cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeon Ralph Delius, MD, is
considered a leading member in his field: board certified by the
American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, he
was recently named a top doctor by U.S. News & World Report. Dr.
Ralph Delius received a Doctor of Medicine from the University of
California, Davis, in 1984, and was a surgical resident at the
University of Michigan hospitals and the University of Iowa College of
Dr. Delius is currently Vice Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. The hospital was ranked among the best children’s hospitals in the United States in a 2012–2013 survey; its Department of Cardiovascular Surgery specializes in complex congenital heart disease, heart transplants, and heart disease in newborns and infants.
In addition to his work as a physician, Dr. Ralph Delius is also involved in academia. Since 2001, he has served as Associate Professor of Surgery at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He also has teaching experience at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and the University of California Davis Medical Center. Dr. Delius has published dozens of articles in medical journals and has served as an editor for Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
