About Randy Thieben
Based in Monterey, California, Randy Thieben is the owner of
Central Coast Uplink, the only independent full-service mobile
transmission unit servicing the San Francisco, Reno, and Fresno areas of
California. With up to 24 freelances reporting to Thieben every day,
the business's client list includes ABC, NBC, CBS, ESPN, CNN, Fox
Sports, and more. During his career, Randy Thieben has won numerous
awards, including an Emmy in 2010 for Best Live On-Location Newscast.
Prior to founding Central Coast Uplink, Thieben worked as a visual storyteller for WBFF Broadcast Television in Baltimore. During his 15-year career at WBFF, Thieben enjoyed an award-winning career as a local news photographer, editor, and live truck operator. During this same time, he also was the lead videographer and lead storyteller for The New Teachers Central Instructional Video Department at the University of California’s New Teacher’s Center.
Outside of his work as a visual storyteller, Randy Thieben enjoys biking in the woods, playing disc gold, swimming laps at the gym, or downhill skiing. He also is involved with The Frostig Center, an organization dedicated to helping children with learning disabilities to reach their full potential.
