The Moon is the Earth's only natural satellite and was made 4.5 billion years ago.

#1: How does Earth move in space?
Earth moves through space in two different ways:
Rotation: It causes Day and Night, rotates eastward, takes 24 hours to do a full rotation, and it spins on it's axis.
Revolution: It is earth in orbit around the sun, earth's orbit is not circular, but oval, and it takes 1 year for Earth to do an entire revolution.
#2 What causes the cycle of seasons on Earth?
Earth's axis causes the seasons because the way the axis is tilted determines the amount of direct sunlight the area gets.
Section 2: Gravity and Motion
What determines the strength of the force of gravity between two objects?
Mass determines the strength of the force of gravity between two objects.
What two factors combine to keep the moon and Earth in orbit?
Gravity and inertia combine to keep the moon and Earth in orbit.
Section 3: Phases, Eclipses, and Tides
What causes the phases of the moon?
The changing relative positions of the moon, Earth, and sun cause the phases of the moon, eclipses, and tides.
What are solar and lunar eclipses?
Solar: The moon blocks out the sun's rays and there is no light that hits Earth.
Lunar: Earth blocks sunlight from reaching the moon.
What causes the tides?
Tides are caused by differences in how much the moon's gravity pulls on different parts of Earth.
Section 4: Earth's Moon
What features are found on the moon's surface?
Thereare maria, craters, and highlands.
What are some characteristics of the moon?
It is dry, airless, and has large variations of temperature.
How did the moon form?
Earth was hit by a planet sized object and the debris formed the moon.
