Begin with the End in Mind
On Monday, we got to go to a school wide leadership assembly. We were surprised by a special guest, Sluggerrr, who helped us learn how we can Begin with the End in Mind by making a plan. Later in the week, we got to work with our 5th grade buddies to come up with a plan to meet one of our school goals. We talked about how our buddies can help us reach our goal and what we can do to celebrate when we achieve our goal.
What can we do at home?
This week in math we began learning how to regroup when adding two digit numbers. We learned that regrouping happens when we have more than nine in the ones place and have to make a new ten. Working on two digit addition at home with your child will be very beneficial to them. Have them draw a place value mat or use simple household items as manipulatives. Continue to help them practice their mental math as well, so they can become more comfortable with basic addition, as we move on to more complex addition.
