Bump, Set, VICTORY
By Kate Vonnahme
Last week, the PAC-LM Indians competed in the annual Conference Tournament with 10 other teams and came home from the tournament with a smile and a third place finish. The girls have been working very hard at practice every single day to accomplish their goal of finishing in the top four, and they did just that. The girls began the tournament on Tuesday, October 14th in Rockwell City where they took on the South Central Calhoun Titans, Newell-Fonda Mustangs, and St. Mary's Panthers. The girls defeated St. Mary's, but could not quite finish against the other two teams. Their win carried them through to the "Elite Eight" where the actual competition began on Thurday, October 16th. The Indians first match of the night was against the Manson Northwest Webster Cougars. The Indians got their revenge and handily put the Cougars in their cage defeating them in two short sets. The Indians were, once again, paired up with the South Central Calhoun Titans. After giving them a run for their money, the Indians fell short once again and had to accept defeat against the soon to be Conference Champion team. Last, but not least, the Indians geared up to take on the Sioux Central Rebels for their final match of the night. The girls did not crack under the pressure and handily beat the Rebels in 2 sets. The Indians left the gym feeling confident in their abilities and soon began focusing on their next match -- round one of regional play against the Algona High Bulldogs. This match is set to take place on October 27th at 7:00 pm in Algona. Come and cheer your Indians to victory as the competition will be fierce, the stakes will be high, and the match will be worthwhile.
