Rick Roirdan is a 49 year old man who wrote the first book in the 39 Clues and the Percy Jackson Series. He will be 50 on June 5. He was born on June 5, 1964, in San Antonio, TX. He grew up in San Antonio

Rick grew up with a educational family, his mom was a musician and his dad was an artist. He grew up reading books such as Lord of the Rings, and  he read books mostly about Greek and Norse mythology. He started writing in middle school, then he got interested in mysteries when he went to college.

When he was in college for three years, he worked as the music director at summer camp, giving him the idea of Camp Half-blood. He wrote a lot of books. Some of his favorite characters were Grover, Bes, or Tyson.
