My weekend started out great.
Friday I went to the farm and walked, bathed and clipped my steer and heifer...and walked my bred heifer Bridgett.
Saturday I went to Crossroads Classic Beef Preview in Reed City, MI with my steer Mac and my new heifer Tori. Mac was 2nd in his division and Tori was 4th.
Sunday...my weekend completely turned around.
April 26, 2015 I lost my first show heifer "Merriman Bridgett 213," due to Uterine Prolapse, after she gave birth to a beautiful bull calf. Bridgett was a many time champion including: Grand Champion Angus at M.O.M. Preview, Grand Champion Market Heifer at G.A.S. Preview, Reserve Grand Champion Breeding Beef at Isabella County Youth and Farm Fair, as well as helping me gain confidence in the show ring, helping me finally get Reserve Grand Champion Sr. Showman.
Bridgett would ALWAYS find a way to break out of the barn and get into the pasture with the brood cows. Anytime I would try to fit her she would kick me. I was to the point I wanted to give up with her.
Our titles we earned together was more than a chair, suitcase, trophies and ribbons. Because of Bridgett I will continue to make my way in the cattle industry and feed her bull calf a bottle five times a day...
I will miss you Bridgy, thank you so much for helping me get where I am today.
