About Robert Boyle
Robert Boyle was an Irish chemist of the 17th century. Many people see him as the first modern chemist in the world, or one of them. The relationship between pressure and volume was not first found by Boyle. In fact, it was found by Richard Towneley and Henry Power. Boyle, however, was the first one to publish the findings, after he ran his own experiments first. Boyle worked with Robert Hooke to complete the experiments. Popping a balloon is a great example of Boyles's Law. When you decrease volume by pushing on the balloon, you are increasing the pressure. This is why the balloon pops, because it cannot withstand the high pressure.
