Robert O'Block

Advocate for Aspiring Forensic Examiners

About Robert O'Block

Dedicated to broadening opportunities in the field of forensic analysis, Dr. Robert O'Block stands out as the founder of the American College of Forensic Examiners International (ACFEI). Dr. O'Block created the professional organization after discovering the largely exclusive nature of the handwriting analysis profession, which restricted access to training to a select few. Committed to opening the field to all qualified and capable individuals, Robert O'Block created the American Board of Forensic Handwriting Analysis.

As he built the organization, which gathered 200 members in its first year alone, Robert OBlock continued to promote access to handwriting analysis training. He published the newsletter that later became The Forensic Examiner, and he expanded the reach of the organization to cover other types of forensic analysis. In the early 1990s, he left his well-established university teaching career to focus full-time on developing the organization, which he renamed ACFEI. Still thriving and growing, the institution distinguishes itself as one of the most rapidly expanding organizations of its kind.
