Cassius Marcellus Clay

He was born in Kentucky on October 19, 1810. His father was a slave owner but abolitionists influenced him. He was in the Kentucky legislator and was defeated in 1840 because of slavery views. He stands for civil rights for everyone. He is passionate about this topic because he was influenced by abolitionists and thought this was the right thing to stand for. He was the most influential when he was in politics trying to convince people in believing his views. He began publishing a antislavery newspapers in 1845. He was also a captain in the Mexican-American war. While he was a captain he opposed the annexation of Texas and the expansion of slavery in the southwest.
