The Western Cordillera is influenced by all climate factors. The Western Cordillera region is affected by ocean currents, mainly in the Pacific ocean which has warmer waters. The latitude of this region is high meaning that it is much harder for the sun's energy to cover the whole region; resulting it to be colder. Since the Western Cordillera is made up mostly of mountains, which means it is greatly affected by elevation. This makes the air to become thinner causing precipitation due to the decreasing hold of the moisture. The Rocky Mountains act as barriers forcing the wine to go up, and causing rain to fall, this is called relief. The Western Cordillera is near water meaning that the summer will be cooler, and in the winter the surrounding land will be warmer.
The climate of the Western Cordillera is moist and mild but is influenced by the closeness of a large body of water. This is also known as a maritime climate, meaning the winters are usually above freezing and summers are cooler than in the interior of the continent.
The Western Cordillera is divided in three sections which are the Eastern Mountains, Interior Plateaus, and the Coast Mountains. The Eastern Mountains is made up of two mountain ranges, which are the Rockies and the Columbia Mountains. The Rockies were created by folding and faulting and are entirely made up of sedimentary rocks. The Interior Plateaus are in the center of the Cordillera and was made by volcanic activity. It is mainly composed of igneous and metamorphic rocks, which contains zinc, copper and gold. The Coast Mountains were formed by a convergent plate movement , and contains a lot of metamorphic and igneous rocks.
The Western Cordillera is located on the west coast of Canada that includes British Columbia, Yukon, southwest Alberta, and parts of the Northwest Territories. It is made up of a series of mountain belts along the Canada's Pacific coast. The entire landscape seems to be an irregular sea of mountain ranges, trending in a north-south direction. The mountain peaks can rise to 3,000 meters that can indicate the age of the mountains.
The Western Cordillera is really known for their Rocky Mountains, and is a popular tourist destination because of its history and its sports activities. First, the Rocky Mountains are a popular tourist destination because of its history behind it. For example, Sir Alexander Mackenzie was the first European to cross the Rocky Mountains. This attracts many people because knowing that the Rockies was discovered so long ago, and is still standing tall makes it incredible to see it first hand. Second, the Rockies are a popular tourist destination because of its activities provided. The mountain range is protected by public parks and forest lands, this attracts many people due to the amount of activities you can do with your family. For example, you can go for hiking, fishing, and mountain biking in the summer, snowboarding and skiing in the winter. In conclusion, having important history behind it, and providing many activities makes the Rockies a great tourist attraction.

Some negative impacts of the Western Cordillera's climate is cause by warmer temperatures and the melting of glaciers. First, the climate is changing due to the warmer temperatures. Warmer temperatures changes precipitation which will change the amount of snowfall in the winter.This will reduced opportunities of snowboarding and skiing and will cause flooding if the snow melts to fast. Second, another negative impact of the climate change in the Western Cordillera is that the melting of glaciers. As the climate warms the glaciers will decrease in size; increasing the sea level. This will destroy many species of animals in the mountains, which will cause a decline in their food chains. In conclusion, having warmer temperatures and a increase in the sea level are two huge negative impacts of climate change in the Western Cordillera.
Some positive impacts of the Western Cordillera climate change is that of warmer temperatures. As the climate gets warmer, the precipitation will decrease causing snowfall to eventually stop. This will eliminate the cause of shoveling, that causes many injuries to people who have heart problems.
In conclusion, the Western Cordillera is a great region to live in or visit because of its Rocky Mountains, friendly neighbors, and a great climate sets the bar high for a great region.
