The religion of Shintoism first began in 6th century C.E. It was founded by Jimmu , the first emperor of Japan. Japanese , Chinese , and Korean people mostly practice this religion in China , Japan , and in Korea. They believe in spirits called , " Kami " , such as animals , people , rivers , mountains , plants , and stones. Shintoism is a polytheistic religion meaning that they believe in more than one god ( Kami ). Shintoism is a ethnic religious group because its based on life , culture , and it uses ancient beliefs , rituals , and folktales.
