Long-term Goals: To transform Russia into an industrial superpower. He wanted the government to control all farms and agriculture.

Legacy: He wanted to make a name for himself; he influenced media, re-wrote history books, and even the Soviet national anthem to include his name. He encouraged civilians to spy on others, wanted to persecute anyone who did not agree with his beliefs, or anyone/anything that had a Western influence. This persecution was known as the Great Purge. He spread communism throughout Eastern Europe.
