Mary Pickford was born on April 8, 1892, in Toronto. In 1909, she appeared in 40 movies for D.W.Griffith American Biograph company. She also worked as a producer and co-founded United Artists, with Charlie Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., who would become her second husband. Pickford retired from the screen in 1933 but continued to produce. She died in 1979.
Actress, producer and screenwriter Gladys Mary Smith was one of the greatest silent film actress of all times. At the young age Gladys Mary Smith wanted to change her name but she couldn't figure out what it should be. As she began in more silent movies her fans started to give her nick names such as:
"The Girl with the Golden Hair"
"The Glad Girl"
To me Mary Pickford is a dream actress that pops up in your mind after watching one or even a couple of movies. She's a kind of actress that set examples for other young children that want to become and actress or actor. One thing that I like about Mary Pickford is that she makes people happy with her since of insperational quotes such as:
- You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down.
- I was forced to live far beyond my years when just a child, now I have reversed the order and I intend to remain young indefinitely.
