February 2014-Detroit Spring Break
In the beginning of March, students of BGSU will have the opportunity to take a trip up to Detroit, Michigan for spring break. BGSU Cru has a partnership with a church in Detroit called Mack Avenue Community Church (Mack Ave.). Mack Avenue, in Detroit, is a street that splits the richest parts of Detroit and the poorest parts of Detroit right down the middle.
I had the opportunity to go on this trip my sophomore year of college and it was such a challenging, but rewarding trip. Students and staff of the BG Cru community will work alongside Mack Ave. Church doing different projects each day. The students will spend a week serving the community of Detroit. They will go out into the city and share the Gospel with others, talk with residents about their city, and help Mack Ave break down and restore houses that the church buys for families in need. They will pray together, worship together and serve the city of Detroit together. It is a humbling and eye-opening experience and I am so excited to hear the stories that the students will come home with.
Thanks for journeying with me.
Please join me in prayer:
-Please pray for safety as students and staff travel to Detroit and serve the city together.
-Please pray for opportunities for the students to talk about Jesus as they talk to people within the communities.
-Pray that the community would experience the love and hope of Jesus through Mack Ave Church and our team of students and staff.
