Two Months of Investigation vs. One "Random" Traffic Stop
Per this article on the local San Francisco CBS affiliate's website, a two month investigation culminated with search warrants being served at two suspected narcotics distribution locations, one in Santa Rosa and the other in San Francisco. The net result of this two month investigation was the seizure of approximately six pounds of processed marijuana at the Santa Rosa location with one person arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail and with controlled substances and items indicative of sales of controlled substances found at the San Francisco location with 5 suspects detained at the scene and then released.
No, that is not the story behind this photo. What you are viewing is approximately 111 pounds of marijuana seized during a routine traffic stop for speeding. The incident occurred on November 21, 2012 north of the Mendocino County line. A green 2004 Jeep Laredo was observed traveling at a high rate of speed by a Garberville area CHP Officer southbound on US-101 through Richardson Grove. The discovery of the marijuana was made during the enforcement stop as the officer noted "the strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside the Jeep.
