Why was Westward Expansion significant to the United States?
Westward Expansion was significant because it helped expand the land that the U.S. already owned and helped the people learn m0re about the land that was surrounding the country.
How did your event play a part in the expansion? What was its individual significance?
Lewis and Clark explored the land that the United States had purchased, and this event was called the Louisiana Purchase. They made sure to record and map their observations so that they could report back to Jefferson with new findings.
President Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on their expedition to explore the territory in the west beyond the mountains. Along the way, they recorded their findings in personal journals. They also mapped what the new land looked like. Without the Lewis & Clark expedition, many things that helped the nation would not have occurred.
