About Scott Cleland
As the president of Precursor, LLC, Scott Cleland offers consultation services in the area of internet competition, property rights, online security, privacy, and deregulation. Scott Cleland also serves as chairman of Netcompetition.org, a group that works on behalf of telecommunications companies to oppose internet regulations. Previously, he worked for more than 13 years in institutional investment banking, holding positions at the Schwab Washington Research Group and Legg Mason.
Mr. Cleland is a respected authority in the field of telecommunications. He performed as a deputy assistant secretary of state for telecommunications trade matters under President George H.W. Bush. Additionally, he has served as a member of the United States Department of State Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy.
Scott Cleland received a master of public affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, Austin. He also holds a bachelor of arts in political science from Kalamazoo College, where he earned a Distinguished Achievement Award in 2001.
