What is a nuclear Weapon?

Have they ever been used?

In fact, these weapons have only been used by the U.S on Japan during world war 2, after the Japanese refused to surrender. Two nuclear bombs, by the names of little boy and Fat man were deployed to Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945.
