About Shane Stodghill
As a legislative aide to Texas State Representative Chris Turner, Shane Stodghill tracks correspondence from constituents and drafts responses for the representative’s signature. He also identifies and researches legislation that is scheduled for consideration in upcoming meetings of the committees on which Representative Turner sits, as well as on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives. A veteran of the US Marine Corps, Shane Stodghill performs another valuable service for Representative Turner, giving him first-hand assistance on all pending veterans affairs legislation.
Shane Stodghill joined the Marines in 2007. His first assignment after graduating from basic training was as part of the security detail for the Marine bases on Okinawa. Among his responsibilities were the management of the center that produced official identification cards for all Marines, sailors, and civilian personnel stationed on the island, and the coordination of that process with the Department of Defense on a weekly basis. When he returned to the United States in 2009, he joined the personnel operation at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, South Carolina. In addition to performing the official intake audit on new recruits, Stodghill served his company commander as his personal administrative clerk.
In addition to his duties in the Texas House of Representative, Shane Stodghill attends the University of Texas at Austin and anticipates earning a BA in government in the spring of 2014. He belongs to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
