When two plates come together or collide together buckles the edge of one or both of the plate creating a mountain.

When two tectonic plates move away from each other, lava spews from the geysers spurting superheated water creating a volcano.

Subduction Zone

When two of the planet's tectonic plates, the pieces of the crust that slowly move across the surface over millions of years, then one of the plates slides under the other. That creates underwater caves and valleys.
