Sufjan Stevens

Live at the Masonic Auditorium in Cleveland, Oh (April 2015)

This whole show was moment after moment that gave you chills. Sufjan sang his latest album Carrie & Lowell with a few oldies mixed in for good measure. From the moment I walked into the show I realized how absurdly pure Sufjan's voice really is; I thought they must do zero post-production tricks when he puts an album together.

The album itself is mostly inspired by the 2012 death of his mother, Carrie, and the family trips they took to Oregon in Stevens' childhood. These giant video/lighting displays behind the stage were like a window into this point of inspiration. They showed home videos of these trips and epic scenery of oceans and skies.

of course the final song of the night...
