A Florida Doctor’s Training Spans Two Continents

About Sumant Lamba

A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Sumant Lamba received his medical training in the United States and India. Completing a residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiology and heart failure/cardiac transplantation in the United States, he previously earned his MBBS, the equivalent of an MD, from the University of Pune’s Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, India, in 1989. Following his graduation, Dr. Sumant Lamba fulfilled an internship in general medicine, surgery, and OB/GYN before relocating to the United States.

Today, Dr. Lamba functions as the director of coronary interventions at the First Coast Cardiovascular Institute in Jacksonville, Florida. Since joining the medical practice in 2006, he has introduced the use of new heart technologies, such as a type of IV that drains excess fluid from the hearts of cardiac patients. In addition to his role as an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Sumant Lamba has served the institute as a clinical investigator since 2007.
