Marbury vs. Madison (1803)  - established judicial review

McCullough vs. Maryland (1819) - States cannot impede constitutional operations of the U.S. Govt

Dartmouth vs. Woodward (1819) - contracts are binding- Dartmouth is a college, colleges have  lawyers, lawyers use contracts

Gibbons vs. Ogden (1824) - National govt has power over interstate commerce

Dred Scott vs. Sandford (1857)- blacks could not be American citizens and couldn't sue- dred scott is a pretty memorable name

Plessy vs. Ferguson (1896)- Legalized segregation in public places as long as they were "separate but equal
