When to capitalize:

*First word in a sentence (ex. The dog took a nap.)

*First word in a quote ( ex. "Hello!" said the boy.)

*Proper nouns (ex. I went to The Mall of America.)

*Title of a person (ex. The teacher's name is Mrs. Nelson.)

*Salutations (ex. Sincerely)

When not to capitalize:

*Names of seasons (ex. I went to Florida last spring.)

*First word after a colon (ex. I need a lot of things at the store: milk, bread, and cheese.)
