Great Tablet APPS to use in lower elementary!
Check out the following five APPS!
The first app that I found to be great for younger children, kindergarten to grade one . This app is called Storykit, and it allows children to create their very own stories. Students can add in text as well as audio to create their very own story which they can share with others!
The second app that I thought would be great to introduce to students in grade two is called Motion Math: Zoom. This app allows students to work on various math skills through games. I think that this app is so great because it allows students to individually choose games to play that match the skills they need to work on. This could be used a part of a math centre.
The third app that I thought would be a great addition to a classroom IPAD is called Animate it! This app allows students to create their very own animations as well as show movies. Children get to create a character from scratch and bring that character to life. I think that this is a great way to introduce a new way of creating art as well as showing children how this craft is applied in the movies they watch. This app could be used as part of an art lesson or as part of project.
The fourth app that I found to add into my future collection is called Monster Physic created by Freecloud Design, Inc. I think that this app is a great way to introduce the idea and concepts of physics to younger students. This app allows children to create and control their own inventions. This app could be used as part of a science lesson, or used within a discussion about career options and or inventions!
This last app that I found to be a great addition for a classroom is called abc PocketPhonics:letter sounds & writing + first words. This app allows younger students to listen to the letter as well as trace the letters with their fingers. This app could easily be incorporated into a kindergarten or grade one class where students are learning to print. This would be great if each student had access to the app and their own Ipad so they could all use the app as the teacher was using the software on the SMARTboard.
